Santa’s Traveling Workshop 2005
A Christmas America will Remember!
In the fall of 2005, the country was devastated by the tragedy that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita caused, leaving hundreds of thousands of families not only without their homes but also without any of their possessions. For many of these families the thought of having Christmas seemed impossible.
With only a few weeks to accomplish a miracle of providing the magic and spirit of Christmas to the hurricane devastated states, M2000 conceived, built and began the tour of Santa's Traveling Workshop. Santa's Traveling Workshop brought magical Christmas moments and gifts to still-suffering Gulf Coast towns. Santa's Traveling Workshop 2005 was presented by Visa, and involved a number of other corporations and creative groups including Macy’s which provided it’s famous “Macy’s Santa Claus” from the annual Thanksgiving Day parade to travel with the workshop for the entire tour. Santa's Traveling Workshop traveled nearly 3,000 miles through Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas giving gifts to more than 500,000 children, many of whom would have otherwise had no Christmas gifts.
We received massive support from many people, including the Governor’s of Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, NBA super star legends & WNBA stars, Miss USA and NASCAR.
The highlight was the visit of the First Lady, Laura Bush, who made her only trip away from Washington DC during the entire month of December to New Orleans to be a “Super Santa’s Helper” in our Santa’s Traveling Workshop.
