Honoring a Lifetime of Service
The United States Senate Honors Frank Woodruff Buckles
M2000 working in conjunction with the Spirit of Liberty Foundation orchestrated the United States Senate’s celebration of Frank Buckles, the 107 year old last surviving American veteran of World War I, in the Capitol. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 and included powerful and inspiring speeches by Senators Robert Byrd, Bob Dole, Harry Reid, Jay Rockefeller, Arlen Specter and leaders of military support organizations including the Commander-in-Chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, George Lisicki, Former National Commander of the American Legion, Clarence M. Bacon and USO President, Edward A. Powell, Jr.
The celebration was a huge success with standing room only. The media coverage was extraordinary with all the networks, CBS, CNN, Fox and NBC, and more than 30 print media outlets covering the event.
